The second daughter Jo is very active woman. She likes to write stories and she becomes a good friend of Laurie who is a rich but gentle boy live next to her. The third daughter is Beth. She is shy and reserved girl and she loves animals and playing the piano. The youngest daughter Amy is precocious and fashionable girl. Their mother is the very model of mother. The fours meet with many troubles but they come through.
